Don't be afraid to fail. Be afraid not to try. — Sara Blakely | Printable Wall Art

“Don't be afraid to fail. Be afraid not to try.”

Words by Sara Blakely (1971-) — Founder of Spanx, self-made billionaire entrepreneur.

About this quote

This quote redefines failure, shifting the focus from outcome to effort. It suggests that making a mistake or falling short is a natural part of growth, whereas refusing to attempt something is the real defeat. By encouraging action over perfection, it reminds us that inaction guarantees stagnation, whilst taking a calculated risk always provides valuable experience.

Sara Blakely, the founder of Spanx, frequently shares this philosophy in interviews and public addresses. She credits her business success to her childhood, where her father encouraged her to reframe failure as a necessary step towards learning.

People often display this quote in a home office or study to build resilience and encourage daily bold choices.
