Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there… — Ralph Waldo Emerson | Printable Wall Art

“Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.”

Words by Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882) — Essayist and poet, leading figure of Transcendentalism.

About this quote

This quotation encourages individuality and creative independence. Instead of following conventional routes that others have already mapped out, it urges us to forge our own unique direction in life. The central idea is that true leadership and personal fulfilment come from taking risks, embracing original thought, and leaving a positive legacy for others to follow.

Although widely attributed to nineteenth-century American essayist and poet Ralph Waldo Emerson, the line does not appear in his published works. It strongly reflects his Transcendentalist philosophy of self-reliance, gaining widespread popularity during the twentieth century.

People often display this print in a study or home office to inspire original thinking and bold decisions.
