About this quote

Failure is an inevitable part of trying anything new, yet shame often prevents us from attempting a second time. This quote encourages us to view mistakes as valuable lessons rather than personal shortcomings. By reframing missteps as practical feedback, we can gather fresh insight, adjust our approach, and rebuild with greater resilience and clarity.

The line reflects the core entrepreneurial philosophy of Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin Group. He has popularised this sentiment across his books, articles, and speeches, drawing directly from his own business setbacks and subsequent successes.

People often hang this print in a home office or creative studio to encourage resilience during challenging projects.
