It is a simple reminder that living a purposeful life requires steady effort and everyday goodwill.

Popularly known as John Wesley's rule, this quotation captures the core ethical teaching of the eighteenth-century Methodist founder. While it appears in print mostly from the nineteenth century onwards, it reflects his lifelong commitment to active Christian charity.
