Courage starts with showing up and letting ourselves be seen. — Brene Brown | Printable Wall Art

“Courage starts with showing up and letting ourselves be seen.”

Words by Brene Brown (1965-) — Author and researcher on vulnerability and courage.

About this quote

True bravery is not about being fearless or guaranteeing a successful outcome. Instead, it begins when we choose to be vulnerable, step into the open, and engage with life honestly. By allowing others to see our genuine selves, flaws included, we build real strength and connection. It reminds us that simply choosing to participate takes genuine heart.

Brené Brown is an American researcher and author who has spent decades studying vulnerability, shame, and leadership. This phrase reflects the core message of her 2012 book, Daring Greatly, and her popular lectures on courage.

People often hang this print in a home office or study as a daily prompt to act boldly.
