Aber hier, wie überhaupt, kommt es anders, als man glaubt. — Wilhelm Busch | Printable Wall Art

“Aber hier, wie überhaupt, kommt es anders, als man glaubt.”
“But here, as so often, things turn out differently than one believes.”

Words by Wilhelm Busch (1832-1908) — German poet and illustrator, creator of Max und Moritz.

About this quote

This classic line is a gentle reminder that human plans rarely go entirely to schedule. Busch captures a universal truth: no matter how carefully we predict or prepare for the future, life has a habit of surprising us. Rather than offering pessimism, it encourages a pragmatic acceptance of life's twists, reminding us to remain adaptable and keep our sense of humour when things go awry.

Written by the German humourist and artist Wilhelm Busch, this line comes from his 1882 illustrated story Plisch und Plum. It reflects his pragmatic, satirical view of human expectations and the unpredictable nature of daily life.

People often hang this print in a hallway or study as a gentle reminder to stay adaptable when plans change.
