Meglio un uovo oggi che una gallina domani. — Italian Proverb | Printable Wall Art

“Meglio un uovo oggi che una gallina domani.”
“Better an egg today than a hen tomorrow.”

A traditional Italian saying, set as gallery-quality typographic wall art.

About this quote

This traditional saying advises that a small, immediate reward is more valuable than the promise of a larger gain in the future. It warns against giving up something certain for an outcome that might never happen. Similar to the English phrase about a bird in the hand, it values practical certainty over risky speculation.

This is an ancient Italian proverb with deep agrarian roots. While its exact date of origin is unknown, similar expressions prioritising present certainty over future possibility have circulated across Mediterranean cultures for centuries.

People often hang this print in the kitchen or home office as a playful reminder to value present gains.
