Haben Sie Geduld gegen alles Ungelöste in Ihrem Herzen und versuchen Sie… — Rainer Maria Rilke | Printable Wall Art

“Haben Sie Geduld gegen alles Ungelöste in Ihrem Herzen und versuchen Sie, die Fragen selbst liebzuhaben.”
“Be patient toward all that is unresolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves.”

Words by Rainer Maria Rilke (1875-1926) — Austrian-German poet.

About this quote

This line encourages us to embrace uncertainty rather than rushing to find immediate answers. Rilke suggests that doubt and unresolved feelings are a natural part of personal growth. By being patient and honouring our open questions, we give ourselves the space to mature. Over time, through living fully and openly, we gradually find ourselves living into the answers we once sought.

The quote comes from Rilke's fourth letter to Franz Xaver Kappus, written in July 1903. It was later published in the collection Letters to a Young Poet in 1929, offering advice on creativity and life.

People often hang this print in a study or bedroom to encourage patience during moments of reflection.
