“Вся Россия наш сад”
“All of Russia is our orchard”

Words by Anton Chekhov (1860-1904) — Playwright and short-story master, author of The Cherry Orchard.

About this quote

Spoken by the idealistic student Trofimov, this line suggests that a country's beauty and potential belong to everyone, rather than a privileged few. It expresses a hopeful vision of social renewal and collective responsibility. The orchard represents the future, implying that by leaving behind old injustices and working thoughtfully together, humanity can cultivate a more generous world for generations to come.

This line comes from Anton Chekhov's final play, The Cherry Orchard, written in 1904. It is spoken in Act Two by the student Pyotr Trofimov, who urges his companions to look beyond their fading past towards a brighter future.

People often hang this print in a home office or study to inspire optimism, quiet ambition, and growth.
